I began my lacrosse career in the third grade. Before trying lacrosse, I played baseball, and I wrestled. One of my wrestling teammates introduced me to lacrosse. I immediately fell in love with how fast the game was. I also loved the teamwork and discipline needed for a team to succeed on the lacrosse field. I began my career at attack, but since I wrestled, I started doing face-offs for my local recreation team. I discovered that I was pretty good at it and had begun focusing on that skill set. I was able to train with coaches from the Face-Off Academy in 8th grade. I was practicing with junior, seniors, and sometimes first-year college students. I was able to learn the new technique of Standing Natural Grip face-offs. I learned the correct stance, reverse clamps, counters, and exits. Face-offs remind me a lot of being on a wrestling mat. It is a one-on-one match-up, you will sometimes use strength to win it, and the next may need to use speed to win the face-off. I love that the face-offs create an opportunity for my team to succeed. I am interested in majoring in engineering in college. I have a great family support system that I can reach my academic and athletic potential. My younger brothers play lacrosse, and I volunteer at the youth program to help coach and teach their teammates at practice.
