Adam Stewart

Adam Stewart has been named the new assistant men’s lacrosse coach for Capital University as announced by head coach AJ Smith on Friday, November 4, 2022.

Stewart joins the Capital staff as the first full-time assistant coach in program history and most recently served as the offensive coordinator for Division III powerhouse Denison University.

At Denison, Stewart served for nine seasons in two separate stints and helped guide the program to new heights. In his tenure, he coached 13 All-Americans, six NCAC Players of the Year, and the only two 100+ point scorers in program history. Under his assistance, the 2017 team qualified for the National Final Four. Stewart’s offenses have consistently been recognized around the country as ranking in the Top-10 (of more than 200 programs) in scoring offense, shooting percentage, extra-man percentage, turnovers per game, assists per game, and scoring margin. His 2017 team led the country in extra-man percentage at season’s end.

Off the field, Stewart had worked closely with leadership development coach Pat Touhey to develop an improved team culture and overall team well-being. Additionally, he has supported the recruiting process and management of the 48-player roster for the Big Red.

Aside from coaching at Denison, Stewart also serves as the Director of Player and Curriculum Development with True Lacrosse. He is also currently serving as the Director of Sales and Operations for The Lax Shop here in Columbus.

Other relevant positions that Stewart has held include serving as the President of the Board of Directors for New Albany Youth Lacrosse Association and working as an Assistant Athletic Director for The Wellington School.

Adam currently resides in Granville with his wife Anne and their three children – Isla, Tallulah, and Bella.

“I am extremely excited to add Adam and his family to our program,” said head coach AJ Smith. “Having Adam join our staff has already taken Capital Lacrosse into the next tier as he brings with him a level of professionalism, great intelligence, and an enthusiasm that our players will feed off of. Adam’s successful coaching background has proven he is the right man for the job, and we are excited to watch him work with our players and contribute immediately on the offensive side of the game.”
