Alexis DiGiovanni has been named the head coach of the Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team, Director of Athletics Debbie Warren announced.

DiGiovanni becomes the sixth head coach in program history and will begin her official duties August 1.

"We are excited to welcome a proud alum in Alexis DiGiovanni back to the Warrior family," Warren said. "Alexis stood out in a strong candidate field and we expect her to continue the program's strong tradition of excellence on and off the field that she helped create during her time here as a student-athlete."

DiGiovanni returns to the sidelines of her alma matter after spending the 2016 season as an assistant coach for Tech, helping the Warriors go 14-4 and capturing the regular season Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championship while making to the quarterfinals in the inaugural NAIA National Invitational and the final National Women's Lacrosse League (NWLL) National Tournament.

"I am beyond excited to return to Indiana Tech," DiGiovanni said. "It is a goal of most coaches to lead their alma mater and I am grateful for the opportunity to do so. I am ready to start working with the team to create a culture of success that leads to a national championship and a network of successful alumni!"

The Chicago Heights, Illinois native served as team captain during her junior and senior seasons and helped the Orange and Black qualify for the National Women's Lacrosse League (NWLL) National Tournament every year she played. She tallied 109 goals and 82 assists during her playing career and led the Warriors to two WHAC Championships and one WHAC Tournament title.

She previously worked at the YMCA in Fort Wayne, serving as a School Age Child Care Coordinator and the Program Director of Childcare Services, and worked as an assistant coach at Homestead High School for two seasons. DiGiovanni graduated from Indiana Tech in 2015 with a degree in Business Administration – Management, and a minor in Graphic Design.
