Department of Athletics announced the selection of Alyssa Treanor (Scotia, NY/Niskayuna) as the new head coach of the women's lacrosse program on Aug. 3, 2021.

No stranger to the Capital District, Treanor arrived to RSC after serving as the assistant women's lacrosse coach at nearby Union College.

"I'm so excited to be a head coach at Russell Sage and take this program to new heights in an already very competitive league," commented Treanor. She added, "I hope all the current and future student-athletes enjoy their experience playing here. I'd also like to thank Sandy our athletic director for selecting me for this role and everyone else involved in the process. I grew up in the area and can't wait for the opportunity to lead a local team to the next level of success."

Director of Athletics Sandy Augstein-Collins noted, "I am very excited to announce Alyssa Treanor as our new Women's Lacrosse Coach!" She added, "Between her local ties and experience as a player and a coach, I am confident that our women's lacrosse program will continue to grow and succeed in the near future."

Alyssa Treanor served as the assistant coach with the Union College women's lacrosse team for five years. Treanor spent three years with the Dutchwomen in 2016-18 before returning to the sidelines in 2020, working specifically with attackers and draw specialists.

Active on the local club lacrosse scene, Treanor previously coached for ADK Lacrosse and currently coaches for the Albany Elite Lacrosse Club. Her team won the Harvard Invitational Tournament in the summer of 2015.

As an undergraduate, Treanor was a four-year starter at Siena College and led the Saints to three MAAC playoff appearances. She was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2012 and earned All-MAAC second-team honors in her senior season, when she ranked second on the team in points with 31 goals and nine assists. Treanor ended her career ranked ninth all-time in career points and fifth in career assists at Siena, having recorded 77 goals with 33 assists in four seasons.

Treanor was a three-sport varsity athlete at Niskayuna High School, lettering in soccer, basketball and lacrosse. She made the Section 2 Lacrosse All Star Team and her teams won three sectional lacrosse titles. Her father, Mark, coached boys' basketball at Niskayuna for over 20 years and her sister, Kayla, was a captain on the Syracuse 2016 women's lacrosse team and a member of the U.S. National Team and was selected in the summer of 2021 as the head coach for Syracuse University.
