Annica Lam
Recruit Profile
Consistently breaks down defenders 1v1 for scoring drives. Extremely quick 1st step, ambidextrous, shifty with excellent change of pace, in love with my stick. Initiating about 4 draw & dumps/game.
Lacrosse has been my passion for 11 years. As a rising freshman, I led my club team in scoring, assists, CT, and DC at the attack/midfield position. I made the varsity team as a sophomore and moved up to T3 Elite North Black 2022 team. I mountain bike, sprint & hurdle in Winter Track, and play recreational co-ed soccer for fun. I take pride in my quickness during dodges and cuts and love to learn new trick shots. Disciplined and self-motivated, I'm outside everyday working on my fundamentals and improving my game.
This summer I am participating in both LaunchX MIT's entrepreneurship and Lemelson-MIT InvenTeams as a semi-finalist.
My hobbies include skateboarding, one-wheeling, stringing lacrosse sticks, juggling, coding, and building. For the past 3 summers, I have volunteered to teach lacrosse to younger kids at the Livingston Huaxia Chinese School sports camp. I am the co-founder of a non-profit organization called GRIT (Guiding Robotics Instruction in Technology) to educate young students in underprivileged communities about STEM. During the pandemic, I created a free virtual camp called PBY (Program for Bored Youths) for elementary school students who have lost their summer. I am a board member of the Chinese Honor Society. I'm also in the Math Honor Society, and English Honor Society, mock congress, ski club, crafts 4 a cause club, and a school supplies donation club.
In 5th grade, I started a girls robotics team, Exit 5A Robotics, competing in over a dozen robotics competitions on the national and international levels, winning 2 awards at the 2019 FLL World Championships in Detroit. I'm the team captain and also program, build, and CAD. I participate in over 10 events and outreaches annually in my community to spark others' interests in STEM. I'm self-taught in these coding languages: Java, JavaScript, C++, Python, HTML, and CSS.
In sophomore and junior year, I took/take AP classes and all honors, including: AP Physics 1, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 2, and AP Computer Science A. In the future, my goal is to give back to the community and to pursue a businesses and engineering or computer science major. Playing on a college lacrosse team, I hope to learn, improve my game, better my lax IQ, compete and succeed on a high-level, and gain life long friends.
