I started playing lacrosse when I was in junior high so I would have spring sport in high school to "keep me in shape for soccer". It wasn't until then that I realized what it truly meant to love a sport. It didn't matter to me if we won or lost, or how much playing time I got, because I was always smiling by the end of the game. I started playing club lacrosse in 7th grade and I've been working my hardest to improve ever since.
I've always been told that I am very coachable. I make smart decisions on the field and I am willing to outwork anyone. These attributes were recognized by my J.V. lacrosse coach freshman year and I was made a captain. The experience of leading a team taught me not only how to be a good leader, but also how to be a good team player. As a midfielder I am fast and confident. I can use my lacrosse IQ to create smart plays and smooth transitions down the field. I started playing defense this year, and I've developed great footwork and 1v1 skills.
I played soccer from the age of 4 through freshman year, and switched to volleyball sophomore year. In the past I've competed in basketball, swimming, track, and dance. I also do a lot of running and strength conditioning in my free time. At school I am a member of the Peer Mentors program for new students. We lead orientation, give tours, and help people with directions during the first few days of school. I am also a member of the Lumberjack club, a community service organization that does a variety of volunteer work in the area.
I am involved in the AP Capstone program at my school. It is a diploma program based on research and argumentative writing. I plan on getting a Capstone diploma when I graduate by taking and earning at least a 3 in 6 different AP classes, two of which are AP Seminar and AP Research. I have a 4.1 weighted GPA and am a member of the National Honor Society.
