Bobby Dabrieo

Profile
Passion. Integrity. Energy.

Im incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead the Poets and continue to build on the programs strong tradition of success, Dabrieo said. Whittier lacrosse has been a staple in west coast lacrosse, and I look forward to being an active member of the Poet community.

Dabrieo posted a 65-28 win-loss record (a .699 win percentage) in seven seasons as head coach of the Cal Poly mens lacrosse team. In five full seasons at the helm, the Mustangs won three Western College Lacrosse League titles and earned four MCLA Division 1 Tournament berths. Bobbys career at Cal Poly began in 2016 with a 17-2 season, finishing runner-up in the MCLA National Tournament. Before the COVID-19 pandemic shuttered the 2020 season, Dabrieos squad held the No. 1 ranking nationally and an 8-1 record. In his final season in San Luis Obispo, Dabrieo led his team to a six-game winning streak after it began the campaign 2-7. The streak included a 12-11 victory over Cal Berkeley in the WCLL title game, avenging a 13-4 loss earlier in the season.

Whittier Athletic Director Rock Carter expressed excitement about the hiring.

Throughout this process, we were looking for someone who would build on the rich tradition of the WC Lacrosse program, Carter said. Bobby has built a program from the ground floor, and even better, sustained it over a period of years. He was also a successful Division III student-athlete, so he understands the need for balance in a student-athletes life. We are excited he is joining our staff and working with our student-athletes.

As a player, Dabrieo was a four-year starter on offense at NCAA Division III Plymouth State University (Massachusetts) from 2003-2006. He led the Panthers in scoring during his junior season and earned All-Conference honors his senior campaign. Following his playing career, Dabrieo worked as a marketing manager while serving as assistant coach for Reading High School (Massachusetts). Each season he was on the staff, the Rockets won the league title. In 2015, he joined the staff at Division III Daniel Webster College as offensive coordinator, guiding the Eagles to a twelve goals per game average, doubling the teams output from the previous season.

Education

Dabrieo graduated from Plymouth State University in 2006 with a B.S. in Business Management.
