Brandon Sewell

Profile
Brandon Sewell has been named LaGrange Colleges first mens head lacrosse coach, according to Athletic Director Jennifer Claybrook.

The college will field its first mens lacrosse team in the spring of 2020.

We are excited to have Brandon as our first mens lacrosse coach and about what he brings to Panther Athletics, said Claybrook. He comes to LC from playing an instrumental role in a program that won a conference championship. Brandons experience first as a player and now as a coach makes him the ideal individual to lead our mens lacrosse program.

Sewell has been the assistant coach at Huntingdon College the past two seasons. During his time there, the team earned a conference title and reached the second round of the NCAA Division III Mens Lacrosse National Tournament. Sewell worked with the Hawks offense, primarily midfielders and face-off specialists. The Hawks had the conferences two-time face-off specialist and three All-Conference midfield selections.

I am extremely excited for this opportunity to be LaGrange Colleges first head mens lacrosse coach, said Sewell. Building a program from the ground up, and continuing to contribute to the growth of lacrosse in the South at a beautiful campus and a high-caliber academic institution is something I could not pass on.

I would like to thank Athletic Director Jennifer Claybrook, President Dan McAlexander and the rest of the interview committee for giving me the opportunity to be LaGrange Colleges head lacrosse coach.

Prior to Huntingdon, Sewell was the chief operating officer for the Southwest Lacrosse Company in Ferrum, Virginia, for a year. In addition, he worked as a volunteer coach for Ferrum College.

Sewell was a four-year starter as a midfielder/face off for Huntingdon. He ranked first all-time for the Hawks in points, assists, ground balls, and face-offs won. Sewell was second in career goals scored and served as a team captain for three seasons. He ranked in the top 25 in the nation in ground balls per game for three straight seasons. Sewell graduated from Huntingdon with a degree in biology.

Given the colleges location and the growing popularity of lacrosse in the South, I am confident that we can recruit a strong and competitive team who will come to LaGrange not only from the Southeast, but nationally as well, Sewell said.
