Coach Hughes has garnered tremendous growth over her time as head coach of the Petrels. OU has seen a 33% increase in win percentage including program's highest goals per game and lowest goals against averages both in 2019. Under Hughes' helm, the team has notched two trips the the SAA Quarterfinals and five SAA All-Conference athletes, including the program's first naming of a first-team member. On an academic front, the Petrels have earned 40 Oglethorpe Dean's List members, named 41 to the SAA Honor Roll, 6 to IWLCA Zagg Honor Roll, 1 to SAA's Sigma Alpha Alpha List.

Hired as the assistant coach, Coach Hughes moved into the head coaching position in 2018. She has been involved with lacrosse as a player, coach, referee and fan over the last decade. She first picked up a stick in middle school after a friend talked her into trying the sport and hasn't put it down since. Coach Hughes grew up and played lacrosse in the Metro Atlanta Area and went on to attend Kennesaw State University where she earned a degree in Public Relations with a minor in Coaching. She quickly entered into the coaching world out of college and has thoroughly enjoyed growing the program and leading such dedicated young women.
