Profile
Caroline "Cacki" Helmer comes to the Colonials after winning a Division II NCAA Championship at Le Moyne College as an assistant coach.

Helmer spent two seasons with Le Moyne and helped the Dolphins to the program's first national championship and a 22-1 record in 2018. Working primarily with the defense, Helmer’s Dolphins ranked third in the NCAA (DII) in goals per game, coaching three All-American defenders, including the 2018 Defensive Player of the Year and the 2018 Goalie of the Year.

In her first season at Le Moyne, the Dolphins finished the regular season with a perfect 18-0 record, won the Northeast-10 Conference title, advanced to the NCAA DII Final Four, falling to eventual National Champion Adelphi in the semifinals.

Prior to Le Moyne, Helmer spent four years coaching high school lacrosse at national powerhouse St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in Alexandria, VA. During her four years in Virginia, the program posted a 104-5 record, winning four league championships and two state titles.

Helmer played college lacrosse at Cornell, graduating in 2012. The Big Red defender closed her four-year career as a unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection. Helmer collected 48 ground balls in her senior season, nearly double the second-best total on the team, also leading the team with 33 caused turnovers. A two-time captain, Helmer capped her collegiate career as an IWLCA Second-Team All-American.

Helmer has also been a part of the Ireland Women’s Lacrosse program for four years, coaching the Senior National team as an assistant coach in both the 2015 European Championships in Prague and the 2017 World Cup in England. She has also been named the head coach for the Ireland Women’s Lacrosse program for the 2019 European Championships next July.
