Caroline Kelly
Recruit Profile
Hungry and humble. Very vocal. High lax IQ. Obsessed with being the best by learning from the best. Disciplined leader.
"In NY, the best girl goalies play with the boys" is what was told to me when someone saw me working with my brother at a practice. It was then that I was asked to join Team 91 National out of South Florida and fell in love with the game. We went on to win a national champinship that winter. I fell in love with the position and the joy it could bring.
I quickly became a student of the game trying to learn everything I could. I enjoy studying film, learning defensive packages, and searching social media as to what all the pros are teaching the shooters. I pride myself in my positioning and love the opportunity to come out the cage and dodge around a re-defender. The best feeling in the world is when one of my clears leads to a fast break goal.
Before lacrosse, you could have found me at American Top Team. I was big in the MMA world and still love to work on my hand speed with my striking coach. I learned so much about discipline, patience, and to appreciate the process from marital arts.
My mom is a huge influence on me. She was a college soccer goalie at a top D1 program. Many of her friends are now coaching in college and in the pros. I have learned so much from their conversations about mindset and how games are won. One of my favorite questions asked by one of them to me was "did you get better this week?" That is always my goal to keep getting better each week.
My extended family is quite large and very competitive. There are 23 cousins amongst us. Between my mom, aunts, uncles, and cousins, they have played basketball, lacrosse, field hockey, ice hockey, and soccer at the D1 level at Boston College, Harvard, UPenn, Princeton, Georgetown, Furman, and William & Mary.
I currently have straight As in honors classes. I volunteer in the community via church outreach programs throughout the year. I am in the process of starting my own business, studying the correlations of past traumas on mental health and its ultimate effect on athletic performance. My goal is to be an owner of a sports team.
