Dowd was a four-year starter and face-off specialist for Siena College. He holds Siena career records in face-off attempts (1,420), face-offs won (775), and ground balls (472). Dowd ranks third all-time in NCAA Division I history in attempts, tied for fifth in ground balls, and is sixth in face-offs won.

"We are very excited to have someone of the caliber of Casey join the Colby family," Colby head coach Guy Van Arsdale said. "He has had an immediate impact on our team far more than just the face-off game."

Dowd was the 2014 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Face-Off Specialist of the Year. He helped the Saints win the MAAC championship in 2014 and led Siena to regular season championships in 2012 and 2014.
