I'm a person with many interests. Along with my three sports (tennis, basketball, and lacrosse), I have been a Girl Scout since kindergarten and I am currently working on my Gold Award. Last year I was elected Vice President of the Engineering Club and President of the Spanish Club at my school. I am a part of the TZ Athletics Covid Planning Subcommittee. I was recently inducted into the Math and Computer Science Honor Societies. On the weekends, I am a volunteer counselor for my town youth lacrosse league. It is important to me to reach a wider community and share my love of lacrosse.
It was extremely exciting for me to make Varsity Lacrosse as a 9th grader. Unfortunately, our season was shut down due to COVID-19. When the announcement was released, I made a routine in my notes app to practice every day in my yard. Luckily, I was able to participate in the UA150. This experience was one of the best times of my life, it gave me such a sense of fulfillment. The girls on my team were from all walks of life, ranging from a Native American reservation to a Texas boarding school, but each one of them had such a kindness in their heart. I believe this is why we won the tournament with an undefeated record. It makes me excited about playing lacrosse on a higher level.
I saw my time in quarantine as an opportunity rather than an obstacle. Along with practicing my heart out, I decided to start working on my dream car, a 1978 CJ7 Jeep. At this time, I knew nothing about cars. My former JV lacrosse coach/teacher served as my mentor as I embarked on the project. One of my proudest moments was when I was able to figure out that there was a missing ground and I was able to get the car started.
The environment of lacrosse inspires me. From the moment my family stumbled upon a Georgetown vs Marquette Women's Lacrosse Game while walking around on campus, I've been determined to work and make it a part of my life. The way the girls cheered each other on and hustled has motivated me.
