Dana Mirigliano
Recruit Profile
Aggressive multi-sport athlete (Lacrosse and Field Hockey), coachable, always looking to learn and improve my game.
I started playing lacrosse in 5th grade. The first game I played on defense. I asked the coach after the game if I could play goalie. I have not left the net since. I love battling for ground balls and being challenged with 8 meter shots. In 7th grade I was the starting goalie for both the 7th grade and 8th grade team. I was also the starter my 8th grade year and our team was an undefeated 14-0-1, a highlight was a 9-3 win over T/E Middle School in which I had 13 saves.
My freshman year I was the back-up behind our senior starter and relieved her in the first 3 games after she went out with a concussion in the first game of the year. We went 2-1 in those games with the highlight being a 9 save 17-6 win over our Central League Rival Penncrest. We went on to the PA AAA state championship game, where I relieved our starter late in the game in a loss 9-8 to Archbishop Carroll. The highlight of my Sophomore year was a win over PA 2A State Champions Villa Maria Academy where I had 11 saves and 5 ground balls.
My overall varsity save percentage is 50% in 24 varsity games over my freshman and sophomore years. In those years (2017 and 2018) I was selected to the US Lacrosse Women's National Tournament representing Philly Lacrosse. In 2018, my Philly 3 team was a finalist in the tournament, eventually losing to South Florida and the eventual Heather Leigh Albert award winning player.
My strongest traits are my initial step to the ball; accurate, strong and long (when needed) clearing ability and my speed. As a goalie it is important to have a short memory, and I always recover quickly to be prepared for the next shot.
I am also the starting varsity center midfielder for my field hockey team, and during my freshman and sophomore seasons I helped my team go to the district playoffs for the first time in 10 years. I was awarded All League and All County recognition in the 2017 season.
I love being involved in my community and one of my freshman year highlights was the SS Dance Marathon which raised money for pediatric cancer research. In my sophomore year, I was part of the Entertainment Committee for the Dance Marathon.
