In his first five seasons, he continued the post-season tradition, leading the team to its 14th-consecutive (15th overall) trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2011. The team captured the 2007 NESCAC title and earned the tournament's top seed in 2013. Campbell owns a career record of 144-82 through his first 14 seasons with the Panthers.

Middlebury ended the 2009 season with a 9-1 mark in NESCAC play, winning the regular-season title by two games. Campbell was named the NESCAC Coach of the Year as Middlebury earned the top seed in the NESCAC Tournament. The Panthers advanced to the NCAA Semifinals for the eighth time in school history, ending the year with a 15-3 mark. During that season, Middlebury collected key regular-season wins over Washington & Lee, Tufts and Bowdoin, while topping St. Lawrence and Wesleyan in NCAA Tournament play. Two-time NESCAC Player of the Year Mike Stone led that squad with 57 goals, earning All-American honors for the third-straight season.

In his tenure, Campbell has guided the Panthers to the top seed in the NESCAC Tournament three times (2008, 2009, 2013). During the 2016 season, he steered Middlebury to its 17th NCAA Tournament appearance in the program's history. In the 2019 season, the Panthers advanced all the way to the NESCAC Championship contest. His student-athletes have also been honored for their work both on the field and in the classroom by the USILA with numerous All-American and Scholar All-American accolades.

Campbell came to Middlebury from Connecticut College, where he served as the head coach for three seasons. In his time at the fellow conference school, Campbell led the team to a pair of NESCAC Tournament appearances in 2004 and 2005. He also worked as an adjunct physical education instructor, the intramural director and the faculty advisor on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Prior to his three seasons with the Camels, Campbell served as an assistant coach at Notre Dame for two seasons. During his stint in South Bend, he helped the Irish become one of the top-10 defensive teams in Division I lacrosse. The squad finished the 2002 and 2003 seasons as co-champions of the Great Western Lacrosse League. His duties included recruiting coordination and working with the goalkeepers.

A 2000 graduate of Middlebury, Campbell enjoyed tremendous success with the Panther program as a player and later as an assistant coach.
