Dave Scarcello returns to Marist as an assistant coach for the men's lacrosse team this upcoming season. He will oversee the defense and goalkeepers.

Prior to Marist, Scarcello served as a defensive coordinator at VMI last season. Scarcello led a defense that finished the season ranked fifth nationally in caused turnovers per game. All-SoCon first team defender junior Kyle Walsh ranked second nationally in caused turnovers per game while freshman Eric Lane ranked sixth. VMI's freshman goalkeeper Bill Osteen ranked 24th nationally in saves per game.

Scarcello got his start coaching as a graduate assistant at Concordia University Wisconsin where he took on the roles of defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator. Under his leadership, the Falcons scoring defense finished the 2017 season ranked fourth in NCAA Division III rankings. Scarcello helped coach six first team All-Conference defenders as well as the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the year in consecutive seasons.

A 2015 graduate of Marist College and two time team captain, Scarcello led the Red Foxes to their 2015 MAAC Championship and was named the MAAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player. That same year, the Red Foxes beat Bryant University in the play-in game, capturing their first NCAA tournament win in program history. He finished the season ranking seventh in save percentage (.570) and 15th in goals against average (8.48). Scarcello capped off his stellar senior season by being named an USILA Scholar All-American goalie.

Scarcello graduated from Marist with a business administration degree and was a two time MAAC All Academic Team Selection. He completed his master of business administration degree from Concordia University Wisconsin.
