Emma Rufolo

Interim Head Coach

Rufolo joins the Spirits after graduating from East Stroudsburg in May 2019 with a bachelor of science degree in psychology that was focused on counseling.

A native of Woodstock, Md., Rufolo played three years at East Stroudsburg after competing alongside Rose at Gardner-Webb during the 2016 campaign. During her time in the Keystone State, Rufolo served as the team captain where she learned the value of teamwork, communication and perseverance. She was able to balance a leadership role, serving as an advocate between teammates and the coaching staff, along with analyzing opponent statistics and tendencies to provide the Warriors with a decisive advantage.

Rufolo made her impact felt on the field as well, earning Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Year honors at the conclusion of her first season (2017). That same season she was named First Team All-PSAC and Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II All-Atlantic Region Second Team.

Rufolo continued her solid play as a junior was named to the IWLCA All-America Third Team, IWLCA All-Atlantic Region Division II First Team and Second Team All-PSAC in the process. In Rufolo’s final year on the field, she was recognized as a member of the All-PSAC First Team, IWLCA Division II All-Atlantic Region First Team, IWLCA All-America Third Team and IWLCA Division II Senior All-Star.

In her three seasons at East Stroudsburg, Rufolo guided her team to the NCAA Division II Tournament on in each season and was named PSAC Athlete of the Week on at least one occasion in 2017, 2018 and 2019. During her stint at Gardner-Webb in 2016 she was nominated for Big South Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Year.

She began building her leadership qualities as a coach at the ESU Warrior Lacrosse Camp in the summer of 2018 by demonstrating lacrosse techniques to varying age groups in attendance. She was able to illustrate and teach the fundamentals of women’s lacrosse through her communication skills.
