Ernie Shapiro, a lacrosse coaching veteran with four decades of experience on his resume, has been chosen to be the new men's lacrosse head coach.

Shapiro- an assistant coach on the Ravens staff in 2018- replaces David Baker, who resigned after two seasons as head coach to spend more time with his family.
"I really appreciate the opportunity given to me by our Athletic Director Joe Pavlow and President (Sharon) Hirsch," Shapiro said. "I look forward to build a winning culture at Rosemont College. I believe in hard work, playing fast, and a high lacrosse IQ."
"I am extremely excited about elevating Ernie to lead the men's lacrosse team," Pavlow said. "Ernie has an unprecedented connection to lacrosse in the area and a track record of success as a player and coach at the youth, high school and college level. The program is set up for great things in the future."
Shapiro was promoted from Offensive Coordinator and Face off Coach at Rosemont College. Prior to that he was the Offensive Coordinator and Faceoff Coach at Immaculata University. While there he coached three offensive players that earned All-Colonial States Athletic Confernece honors, and two earned CSAC All-Academic Team. In 2013 he returned to his high school alma mater, Lower Merion HS. As the Head Coach for three years hie teams played in the PIAA State Tournament twice. Ten of his players went on to play collegiate lacrosse. Numerous players won league, district, and state awards and two were All-American.
"I think having the year of experience that we have with our guys from last year is going to help us a lot," Shapiro said. "We had a lot of players who learned a lot last year and most of our team is coming back. I'm excited to get going."

Shapiro brings a wealth of experience to the sidelines with over 25 years of lacrosse coaching experience. In 2017 he served as the assistant coach at Immaculata University. He mentored 3 players to the 2nd Team All CSAC and an additional player the CSAC All Sportsmanship Award. He was the Head Coach at Lower Merion High School from 2014 to 2016, two players were named All American and one was the 2014 US Lacrosse Bob Scott Award winner. In 2015 he was the head coach of Team Israel, guiding them to a 15-14 win against Team Hungary.

He also served as the head coach of Radnor Middle School for two years (2008-09), and was an assistant coach at Friends Central High School (1998).
