This season marks his seventh year as head coach. 2013 proved to be another successful year for Purdie and the Panthers as they posted a 14-3 overall record and a 10-1 record in NE-10 play. The Panthers earned a share of the regular season Northeast-10 title with Merrimack, and reached the finals of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The Panthers received the #1 seed in the North Region in the NCAA Championships, and advanced to the Final Four with a 14-11 victory over #4 NYIT. As the hosts of the Final Four game, the Panthers came up short in a 16-13 loss to #3 Le Moyne, the eventual champions. Seven players landed on All-Conference teams, four were named to USILA All-America teams and two players were selected to play in the USILA/LAXWORLD North South Division I/II All-Star Game. In addition, senior Kevin Kennedy received the USILA Long Pole Midfielder Award, the first in program history. Purdie and the mens lacrosse team completed another successful season in 2012. The team posted a 13-3 overall record with an 8-2 mark in the NE-10. As defending NE-10 Tournament champions, the team fell in the semifinals to Merrimack. Five players received USILA All-American honors, with one landing on the First-Team, two named to the Second-Team and two Honorable Mentions; one player was also named USILA Scholar All-American. Four players earned ECAC All-Star status, and Joe Vitale was named ECAC Offensive Player of the Year. Vitale was the first Division II player to be selected in the 2012 Major League Lacrosse draft, and was picked up by the Charlotte Hounds with the 57th pick overall. 2011 was a special and record breaking season for Purdie and the Panthers. Purdie led Adelphi to the program's first Northeast-10 Championship with a 13-8 win over Merrimack in the NE-10 Tournament Championship game. He also guided Adelphi to a program record for wins in a season at 16 (the previous mark was 13, set back in 1979). Purdie also had the Panthers back in the National Championship game for the first time since 2001, when Adelphi won it's last Division II title. Seven players were named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference team, including Eric Janssen, who was named NE-10 Goalie of The Year. Adelphi also received national recognition with five players earning USILA All-America honors, marking the first time since 2008 the Panthers have had an All-American. Prior to the 2011 season, Purdie had his most successful season at the helm of the Panthers in 2010, guiding the squad to a 10-5 overall record. In their first season in the Northeast-10, Purdie led the Panthers to a 7-3 record in league play. The Brown and Gold ended the regular season on a six-game winning streak, earning the third seed in the conference tournament. Adelphi defeated St. Anselm at home in the quarterfinals, 11-8, only to lose to #7 Merrimack in the semifinals, 14-3. Senior Kevin Kemp and sophomore Danny Blau received First-Team All-NE-10 honors while junior Daniel Gill earned Second-Team kudos and Jeff Melsopp was named to the All-Rookie Team. Kemp also received ECAC Division II Men's Lacrosse All-Star First-Team honors as well as being selected to play in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/LaxWorld North-South All-Star Game. The 2009 season saw a 3-8 record, 1-5 in conference action. However, there were accolades that highlighted the season which included three players on the All-Conference teams. Eddie Ege defended his spot as statistical leader in assists in Division II while teammate Andrew Ashkenazy ranked second in the nation in face-off win percentage with 66.2 percent. Senior Donny Moss went on to be selected 39th overall in the MLL draft by the Long Island Lizards. In the 2008 season, Purdie led the Panthers to a 7-5 overall record, 3-3 in ECC play. He was also named ECC Coach of the year while coaching three players to ECC All-Conference awards including Edward Ege, the ECC Player of the year. In addition, he also produced two All-Americans and NCAA Statistical Champions. Purdie, a member of the Australian World Games team before arriving at Adelphi, made his mark as a two-time All-America selection. He played three years for the Panthers, from 1987-89, helping the team to two NCAA Division I Tournament appearances. He appears in numerous Adelphi DI records, including first in single-season ground balls (109) and second in career ground balls (269). He also appears in the top-ten in single season and career assists and points. His post-collegiate career included playing seven times for the Australian Lacrosse World team. He also played for the New York Saints (1990-99), New Jersey Storm (2002-03) and the Anaheim Storm (2004), playing in over 100 professional indoor lacrosse games. In 1994 he was named Best Midfielder at the World Games. He has twice appeared in the ILF World Championships (2003, 2007) and was inducted into the Adelphi Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995. Purdie has coached at the Waldorf School in Garden City, N.Y. since 1994 and has coached numerous All-Americans and Academic All-Americans and in 1997 was named the New York Metropolitan Lacrosse Association High School Coach of the Year.
