I have been Hays' Head Varsity Coach for the past two seasons and he has been one of our most reliable players, even as a freshman and sophomore. Hays plays a physical game, but has incredible athleticism to compliment. Hays locked down every matchup he had this season. Playing an attackman behind or a quick midfielder up top, it did not matter. Hays is an excellent defenseman. He owns the field in between the restraining lines and scoops every ground ball, contested or not. Hays always comes to my office to discuss matchups and watch film to understand how to improve as an individual and understand what we are trying to do as a team. Hays is very intelligent, on and off the field. His 4.6 GPA at a school like MUS should put him on the top of any coach's list. His friends on the team and coaches love him. I have coached Hays since he was in 2nd grade and look forward to seeing his progression moving forward.

Hays is a hard-working, tough and physical defender. He has an incredible comprehension of overall team defense for a young player and often finds himself covering the top offensive players on the crease or the attackman at X. Hays has a good combination of size and athleticism than enables him to cover a wide range of different attackmen. Off-ball, his head is on a swivel and he protects the most dangerous area of the field with his body and his stick. As he continues to grow and gain size and muscle, Hays is going to be a top defender. As a teammate, he is what you'd want - tough, focused and supportive.
