Recruit Profile
Versatile player with team first mentality, strong Lax IQ - highly coachable, reliable, disaplined, leader, engaged, hard working - Honor role student athlete, multisport athlete.

I began playing lacrosse at age 5 starting in rec. and both rec./ club lacrosse by age 10. I started at Sidewinders as the first group of 2022's for the club and played their since. I primarly have played close defense for both club and high school teams. I have played for my high school team fresh/soph/junior years, as a close defender. I have competed in box and indoor to enhance my footwork and lax IQ as a close defender. I played soccer pre-high school and also ran cross country as a freshman and sophmore, did not run my junior year due to covid. I'm comfortable with both hands and feel I have a good lax IQ and understanding of defense positioning, I have been working hard in the off season with strength/conditioning/agility as well as private coaching to improve speed/strength/footwork.

I currently have a weighted 4.19 GPA and scored 1050 on the SAT's, I will be re-taking SAT's to improve my scores. I'm taking all honors and AP classes with AP tests in the spring. I have maintained a high GPA throughout my middle/high school years and always maintained a rigerous class schedule. I consider myself a succesful student athlete and provide tutoring assistance to my fellow lacrosse players. My goal is to attend a 4 year university; major in Business (management) and play lacrosse.

I like to spend time with family and friends along with playing lacrosse and video games. A role model of mine is Pat Tillman because he always stood up for his teammates no matter the circumstances, he was an honorable patriot that seved his country with distinction. I want to play sports in college because I believe it is one of the best ways to meet new people along with making many friends and memories along the way.

My accomplishements include, National Junior Honor Society, Honor Role Student 6-11 Grade, Principals Honor Role, ALC (Athletic Leadership Counsel) Arundel High School, Platoon Leader (Arundel High School)for 2021 Lax Season, and MLL All-Star 2020. I also work a part-time job and assist/ coach youth SWLX lacrosse players in my off-time.

Hunter is a player every coach wants on his team. He does all the little things right, from communicating with coaches to showing up early to make sure he is ready to go for the days work. I have coached Hunter for the last 2 years with Sidewinders Lacrosse and have seen incredible improvement. Hunter is always asking for feedback to improve his game but more importantly he takes immediate action on the feedback. From a lacrosse perspective, Hunter is an incredibly smart player with an excellent stick. His game IQ consistently has him in a position to make a big play. Hunter is my most reliable off ball defender and recently has put in significant off-season work to improve his on-ball defending which was vastly improved this spring. I am super excited to get back to work with Hunter this summer and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out.

Hunter is one of the most dedicated and hardest working athletes I've had the privilege to both coach and work with. When I coached him for club lacrosse, he was always a leader for us running our defense. He is a very coachable and reliable player that goes above and beyond what's asked of him! And this is something I get to witness working with him off the field as he's always asking to get extra sessions, sets, and reps in during our training sessions! As his strength and conditioning coach over the last few years, I have seen remarkable improvements in Hunter's athleticism year after year, from his speed to his strength and his on field skills and IQ! He is a very smart and dependable athlete that will have a positive impact wherever he is and plays! If you have any questions or would like to know more about Hunter, please don't hesitate to reach out! - Nick Stoop

Hunter Russell is one of the hardest working athletes in my program. He has transformed himself into our number one defender. His stickwork, lacrosse IQ and athleticism are what we strive for all of our athletes to have. We are very fortunate to have Hunter in our program and he is a great leader for our program. As a freshmen, Hunter started for our JV and was an impact player in our program from his first day. After that, his sophomore year was cut short due to Covid, and as a junior he is starting for our varsity team and has been a key element to our success thus far. If you have any questions about Hunter, please reach out. rbaur@aacps.org.
