Ian Edinger
Recruit Profile
I am a confident, coachable, and very aggressive player. Team player, determined to give 110%, multi sport athlete, 80% FO wins.
I started to play lacrosse at the age of 8 at the midfield position. When I was 7th grade, I made the 8th grade team, taking the face off and playing midi. In my 8th grade year I was the top face off guy on the team, winning the majority of my face offs. I made the Western PA all star team, taking the face offs during those games. My 9th grade year I made the Varsity Lacrosse team, taking face offs. Unfortunately the Covid hit and we did not have the chance to play. I also made our Varsity Hockey team my freshman year and was one of the top defensemen on the team. I have also been playing hockey since I was 5 and played on many travel teams, including a AA team. I love being given the opportunity to play in the most challenging situations. I have volunteered with my hockey team to help disabled kids play sled hockey. I have also helped with our youth lacrosse teams and our youth hockey players. I enjoy teaching little kids the sports I love. In 2021 I helped my team go to the State Championship game, unfortunately we did not but I used this experience to help me grow and mature as a player and person and we came back in 2022 more determined than ever to win. We became the first WPIAL team to win the PIAA AA State Championship!

Ian Edinger is one of the most driven, determined, and skilled face-off midfielders I have ever had the pleasure to coach. Ian has extremely fast hands and a powerful initial move. Ian also excels as a counter mover with a diverse and varied arsenal that he applies to great effect! Ian was our primary face-off midfielder this year, earning himself the title of WPIAL AA face-off midfielder of the year. This was a well-deserved honor, as Ian’s 71%-win percentage was crucial to winning many games. Ian is a consummate teammate and is the first one to pick up his teammates after a mistake or talk strategy and techniques with his fellow face-off midfielders. Ian is wonderfully coachable and is ready and willing to make alterations based on coach suggestions and guidance. My favorite part of coaching Ian is his unwavering work ethic. Ian works on his craft constantly and is always seeking to improve on even the slightest weakness. Ian is an amazing young man with great character and a desire to be his best at all times. Any coach wanting an athletic, powerful, and smart face-off midfielder would be lucky to have Ian, I know we have been!
