Strong academically multi sport athlete with strong lax IQ who is aggressive and physical on the field and throws hard checks.
I started playing lacrosse at 7 years old. I was a midfielder, then moved to defense and now I am a LSM. I am comfortable with both hands and pride myself on my on ball defense. I played lacrosse on my school's varsity team since my Freshman and on my Sophomore year we became the State Champions. I coached lacrosse at a local recreational league in Raleigh, NC and volunteer at my church. I'm inducted to the National Honors Society and the Spanish Honors Society

Ian Songer is an athletic, rangy, intelligent lefty defender. Ian is a natural LSM because of his play in space and in between the lines, but he can toggle down low at close defense whenever we need. He has the feet and speed to play in and cover space, and the IQ to bait the angles off ball. On ball, he is aggressive, and creates a lot of pressure for his match-up. From causing turnovers to his groundball play to creating offense--where he can make the safe play or sting a lefty shot--he is poised for a breakout year.

Ian is a monster on ball and between the boxes. He has the ability to create offense from the defensive end, and take away the other team's best option at midfield. Excellent in the classroom, Ian checks all the boxes as a student-athlete.

Ian is a naturally aggressive athlete, who relishes on-ball coverage. He is excellent in his ground ball play, can run the field, and can make the smart play. As he matures as a player, he will better develop and understand his off-ball / team defense skills. Tremendous potential / upside.
