Director of Athletics Tony Mariano has announced the hiring of Ian Thomas ’14 as the new Head Coach of the women’s lacrosse team, effective Sept. 2021.

Thomas returns to the hill after a three-year stint as the head boy’s lacrosse coach at Spaulding High School in Barre, Vt., where he was led the program to a 21-5 record. While at Spaulding the Norwich alumni was recognized as the 2019 US Lacrosse Coach of the Year by the Vermont Chapter, as well as his team named the 2019 Sportsmanship Team of the Year.

Thomas also served as an assistant for the men’s lacrosse team under Neal Anderson from September 2015 until May 2019. During the four-and-a-half-year period he was the offensive coordinator for the Cadets.

As a player for the Cadets, Thomas graduated in 2014 with 120 total points, consisting of 75 goals and 45 assists. Thomas led Norwich as he was tied for the team lead in total points during the 2013 season.
