J.B. Sheridan is entering his tenth season as head men's lacrosse coach at Randolph-Macon College.

Randolph-Macon set program records in 2019 finishing the regular season at 13-4 overall and 7-3 in conference play which placed them in the top 20 of the NCAA regional rankings and sent them to the ODAC tournament for the third straight year. This team featured a program first USILA All-American in junior defensive midfielder Tyler Flora, who was also selected to the IMLCA All-Region and VaSID All-State teams along with junior defenseman Camden Stramanak. The Yellow Jackets defense finished 10th in the NCAA in goals against average (7.56) in 2019. It also featured its first ODAC Scholar Athlete of the Year in junior attackman Brendan Markovic who was also recognized on the Google Cloud Scholar All-America team. They added a program high 7 All-ODAC selections to their accolades in 2019.

In Sheridan’s nine years, he has led the team to winning seasons in six of them, adding double digits to the win column in each of the last two years and 3 out of the program’s 4 seasons with 10 or more wins. They have reached the playoffs in seven of those nine years and reached the semi-finals in 2013. After a record setting season in 2019, and with 5 of their 7 all-conference players returning, Coach Sheridan is excited about what is to come for his program in 2020 and beyond.

Randolph-Macon has also been successful academically under Sheridan’s leadership as he has made that a priority, raising the team GPA by .81 up to a 3.0 since he arrived. He has coached 4 Scholar All-Americans and had the programs first ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the year in 2019. He also had the graduating student-athlete with the highest GPA at R-MC on his team in 2018.

Off the field, the Yellow Jackets have participated in the R-MC Men's Lacrosse Holiday Toy Drive each of Sheridan’s nine years and brought over 1,000 cans to the campus food drive in 2018.

Sheridan is currently serving on the IMLCA Regional All-American Committee, having previously served as the ODAC representative on the USILA All-American Committee (2012-15) and was a member of the IMLCA Advisory Committee (2014-17).

Sheridan arrived in Ashland after a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Goucher College.
