John “JD” Wilson has been coaching lacrosse for the last 19 years.

He has coached competitive athletics at all levels for the last 35 years. The 2019 season was JD’s first season with the Greyhounds. He assisted Coach Carty with the offense and ran the face-off team. Coach Wilson came to us after a six year stint at Emmaus High School where was the Defensive Coordinator, and in charge of numerous special teams including face off and EMO. During his tenure at Emmaus the team played in five championships, winning three district championships and one Conference championship. The defense had a 6 goal against average for all six years that he served as DC. Two of the players that Wilson coached, went onto be named Player of the Year in the district. He has had numerous players make ALL-Conference including one of his face-off specialists. That same player was named team MVP. Many of his Emmaus players have gone on to play at all levels in college.

Prior to coaching at Emmaus, Coach Wilson coached at Division 1 Robert Morris University. He served as the Volunteer Coach and was Director of Operations. He assisted with the defense, and ran the face-off teams. Two of the specialists he coached went onto play in the World Cup. One player was the leading freshman in D1 based on face off win percentage. During his tenure at Robert Morris the team set records for wins in a season, including first ever wins over Penn State, and Ohio State.

Prior to coaching at RMU, Coach Wilson served as Head Coach of Peters Township High School in the greater Pittsburgh area. He was a two time Coach of the Year nominee, coached one All-American, and two of his players went onto win numerous National Championships at Salisbury University. While in Pittsburgh, Coach Wilson served as the President of the WPSLA.

Coach Wilson graduated from Westfield State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and earned his MBA from the University of Phoenix at Pittsburgh. He has lived in the Lehigh Valley since 2011 with his wife Karen and their two children Hayley and Mitchell.
