James Daugherty is in his first season as an assistant coach at Washington and Lee, where he serves as offensive coordinator.

Daugherty joined the Generals by way of Arcadia University, where he has served as the head assistant coach and offensive coordinator from December of 2020 through the 2021 season. In this role, he helped the Knights to a pair of winning seasons and coached the team to a program record for goals (13.6) and points per game (20.7) during the 2021 campaign. He also coached six players to all-conference laurels, including the MAC Rookie of the Year.

Daugherty's collegiate coaching experience also includes stops at Widener as a graduate assistant (2018-20) and as a volunteer assistant coach at VMI (2017-18). He began his coaching career at the Cannon School (N.C.) as the defensive coordinator for four seasons where he helped mentor the team to a school-best 7.14 goals allowed per game in 2017. Daugherty also has coaching experience with the North Carolina-based Top Tier Lacrosse, LLC where he saw 16 student-athletes he worked with advance to play collegiate lacrosse.

As an undergraduate student, Daugherty played one season of lacrosse at Bridgewater College, before earning a bachelor of arts in political science from UNC Charlotte in 2017. He is also currently pursuing a master of public administration degree from Widener University.
