Profile
James Malone begins his fifth season as the Albright head men's lacrosse coach in 2021.

Malone coached the Lions to a 3-3 record before the 2020 season was shut down to the COVID-19 outbreak.

In 2018, Malone guided the Lions to five wins and saw three players earn All-MAC Commonwealth Honors. JJ Boliaux earned first team honors, while James Gorman tallied second team honors, and Ryan Aler earned honorable mention. In addition, Boliaux earned ECAC and IMLCA All-Region honors as well.

In 2017, Malone led the Lions to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament championship game in his first season. Albright's six wins in conference play tied the school record. Senior Cam Cetrone was named the MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Year, and he was one of five Albright players to be named All-MAC Commonwealth. Andrew Potter joined Cetrone on the First Team.

Malone spent three seasons as an assistant at Dickinson prior to his time at Albright. In three seasons with the Red Devils, Malone mentored 16 all-conference selections and two USILA All-America selections. The program reached No. 7 in the nation in 2014 and No. 15 in 2016 while making a pair of conference tournament appearances in Malone's time with the team.

Prior to his time at Dickinson, Malone spent four seasons as the head coach at Mercyhurst North East College. He elevated a struggling program into a nationally-ranked contender, reaching the playoffs for the first time in school history in 2011 and again in 2012. The Saints finished 2011 ranked 11th in the National Junior College Athletic Association. During his time there, Malone coached 10 NJCAA Academic All-Americans, 15 all-region selections and 18 all-conference honorees.

As a player, Malone was a team captain and a four-year starter at College of the Holy Cross. He was the team's Rookie of the Year as a freshman and was selected to play in the NEILA East-West Senior All-Star Game at the conclusion of his playing career, serving as captain of the East team.
