The 2021 season will mark Jason Miller’s 15th year as head coach of the St. John’s lacrosse program.

Last season, in a shortened season the Red Storm went 3-4 with wins over Hartford, Long Island University and Siena. Senior midfielder Mike Madsen became the 12th Johnnie in program history to record his 100th career point in St. John's 17-15 victory over LIU. Madsen was named to the 2020 All-BIG East Preseason team, earned BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week twice and was nominated as a 2020 Maverik/Inside Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention. Jonathan Huber and Jonathan Huber were both named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll throughout the season.

In 2019, the Johnnies defeated No. 11/13 High Point, 10-9, marking the program’s first win over a ranked opponent on the road since the St. John’s defeated top-ranked Notre Dame, 12-10, on March 30, 2013. Attackman Joe Madsen, midfielder Mike Madsen, and defenseman Aidan Marron were named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team at the conclusion of the 2019 regular season. Marron became the 15th player in program history and first to participate in the USILA All-Star Game since 2014, when former Johnnies Kieran McArdle, Kevin Cernuto and Ryan Fitzgerald all represented St. John’s. Marron was also the third Johnnie to be named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Scholar All-American.

In 2018, St. John's saw a tremendous amount of success in the classroom with the team being awarded the BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Award for the second-consecutive year. The award is given to the programs with the highest GPA in the conference for their respective sports. On the field, the Johnnies were led by freshman Joe Madsen who led the team in goals (20) and points (25) and earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors after nearly leading an upset over No. 4 Denver.
In 2016, the Johnnies received a number of team and individual accolades for its hard work on and off the lacrosse field. Coach Miller’s squad earned three All-BIG EAST Team selections in graduated attackman Eric DeJohn (First Team) graduated midfielder James Bonanno (Second Team) and rising junior Jason DeBenedictis (Second Team). Off the field, the Red Storm dominated in the classroom once again under the tutelage of Coach Miller as the team captured its fourth BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Award for lacrosse in the past five seasons. Thirty lacrosse student-athletes were also named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team.
