Focal point for our defensive unit at Palm Harbor University High School. Lacrosse IQ is extremely high. He understands complex defensive schemes as we have run all sorts of modified zone and man to man packages with shutoffs. He frequently coaches other players during practice and in games to get them up to speed with the specific scheme we are running. I think Jayden is a better off-ball defender than he is on-ball only because he has not grown into his big frame yet. Once he gets his feet behind him he will be very tough to beat one on one. He is very technical with his checks and he uses them sparingly, as he likes to engage with the body and use his size and strength to control his opponent. He throws very heavy but accurate checks and is consistently staying out of the penalty box. Jayden has played close defense, as well as LSM. He is like a groundball vacuum and is very effective on the faceoff wing. He also can handle the ball very well on clears making long throws look easy. He can also can score from the outside in transition, and is on EMO .

Jayden Griggs is a good sized defender with long legs and good range. He is a great young man who is engaged in all phases of the process of being a high level college lacrosse student-athlete. High IQ, Good fundamental stick skills and defensive skills, works very hard, leads by example and thru direction, very good off-ball awareness, understands and sees his slides, fills and rotations, good with getting the ball off the turf and getting it up the field in transition. His footwork has been the place where he had the most ground to make up since he grew into his big frame very quickly and, as is natural, his feet are catching up. But he has made that part of his game a strength now and is hitting on all cylinders while becoming the top defensemen for the True Tampa Lacrosse Program. Jayden has the physical, mental and emotional tools to be a high level college player. Projected DI OR high academic DII or DIII. EXCELLENT STUDENT
