Jenny Levy

Profile
Entering her 24th season as the North Carolina head coach, Jenny Levy is among the best coaches in women’s lacrosse history.

Levy ranks third in NCAA Division I history in career wins, is a two-time national champion and a two-time National Coach of the Year. She was named the head coach of the United States National Team in November of 2017.

Levy enters 2019 with a career record of 329-113, including 72-31 in ACC play, in 23 seasons.

She has led the Tar Heels to 10 appearances in the NCAA Tournament semifinals, including seven in the last 10 years. Her 32 NCAA Tournament wins rank fifth in NCAA history.

Levy became the fourth coach in women’s lacrosse history to win an NCAA championship as a player (with Virginia in 1991) and as a head coach. She is the eighth coach to win multiple NCAA titles.

In 2018, Carolina advanced to the NCAA final four for the seventh time in 10 years.

In 2016, UNC set a school record for most wins (20) and fewest losses (two) in a season, went 7-0 to win the ACC regular season and won the second ACC Tournament and NCAA Tournament titles in program history. The Tar Heels also won a program-record 17 games in a row to close the season. Levy earned National Coach of the Year honors after the season.

In 2013, Carolina beat defending national champion Northwestern in the NCAA semifinals, then downed top-ranked Maryland 13-12 in three overtimes for the title in one of the most thrilling games in the sport’s history. She earned national-coach-of-the-year honors from Inside Lacrosse, the IWLCA and Lacrosse Magazine.

Former UNC players Kristen Carr, Jen Russell, Laura Zimmerman and Marie McCool won gold medals with the 2017 U.S. World Cup team.

The only head coach in UNC women’s lacrosse history and among the collegiate game’s most noted figures, Levy built the Tar Heel program from scratch.

Levy has guided Carolina to 20 NCAA Tournament bids, 10 NCAA Tournament semifinal appearances, four Atlantic Coast Conference titles and the 2013 and 2016 NCAA titles in her 23 seasons. She is a four-time ACC Coach of the Year.
