Since I was six years old, lacrosse has been an integral, happy part of my life. While I am a multi-sport athlete, my favorite place is on the lacrosse field. As a coachable, hard working team player, I am proud to be a strong and fast midfielder with high lax IQ. I add passion into every play on both ends of the field and in between the 30s. As an eighth grader, I started on the varsity team for my high school and have remained a contributing starter. This past spring, as the only freshman starter on my varsity team, I earned the team's Heart and Hustle award for my persistent diligence and the Super Defender Award for being a quick and powerful backer. For Syosset High School's varsity team, I play defense and use my 5' 10" height to intercept balls yet I am nimble enough to get low on the offense's hips when playing one-on-one. During Under Armour 150, I tied for the 10th best shot speed and got 7th in the medicine ball throw out of 150 other elite lacrosse players my age. I also earned the Coaches Award for Team Elevate, my club team, because of how much time and effort I dedicate to lacrosse. Outside of lacrosse, I was the only freshman captain on JV volleyball and rowed winter crew for my high school. I have a 4.0 GPA in Honors and AP courses. I am also the vice president of Peers Reaching Out, the co-president of the Unity Coalition, and a Girl Scout. Finally, I am an avid photographer who prints my photos on notecards, sells them on a website I created (https://www.jillianhooey.com/), and donate all the profits annually (over $1,300 in 2019) to a local nature conservation association, Seatuck. I just received a citation of Honor from the Town Of Oyster Bay for my nature advocacy efforts.
