La Roche is excited to name Jimmy McCann as the Assistant Coach of our men’s lacrosse program.

McCann enters his first season as a member of the Redhawks coaching staff in 2019-20 after years of coaching at the club and high school levels in the greater Baltimore area. Most recently, McCann served as an Assistant Coach at Westminster High School in Carrol County, Maryland. While there, he worked with Goalies and Defense to help lead the Owls to back-to-back Maryland State Championships in 2018 and 2019.

“We are thrilled to officially welcome Coach McCann to our staff and family. Coach McCann has a wealth of experience at the goalie, faceoff, and defensive positions, which will positively impact our program right from the start,” said Head Coach Zach Wilfong. “He’s a tremendous coach and an even better person. I’m excited to see him foster and strengthen relationships throughout our team.”

As a player, McCann was a goalie at Mercyhurst University from 2002-2005 where he was a member of two NCAA Division II Semi-Finalist teams. While at Mercyhurst, McCann earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Special Education before spending over a decade as an educator and coach in Maryland.

Coach McCann is a native of Long Island, NY and currently resides in the South Hills of Pittsburgh with his wife, Kelly Rose and two sons, LJ and Declan.
