John Sung was hired as the head women's lacrosse coach and assistant athletic director in August of 2021.

He comes to Kenosha, Wis. after spending five years at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., where he became the winningest coach in program history with 45 victories. He led the Hokies to a top-20 spot in the national polls each of his five seasons, and finished a program-best third in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) during 2018. While at Virginia Tech, Sung coached four all-Americans, five Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) all-region selections, 10 all-conference honorees, and two training members of Team USA, all while earning academic honor roll honors from the IWLCA from 2017 to 2021.

At Carthage, Sung also oversees administrative duties as the assistant athletic director of external relations such as fundraising, booster club and alumni relations, marketing, and more. As the head coach of Virginia Tech he raised over $500,000 for operations funds, and helped oversee administrative work in team marketing, budgeting, alumni outreach and more.

Prior to his position at Virginia Tech, Sung spent 2011 to 2016 at Winthrop University as the head women's lacrosse coach, where he owned a 54-26 record and claimed a pair of conference championships. He spent six years working with the Haudenosaunee National Women's Lacrosse Team from 2008 to 2013, and was the head women's lacrosse coach at Adrian College for four seasons where he compiled a 47-19 record. Sung also spent time as an assistant coach with the women's lacrosse programs at the University of Michigan and Birmingham Seaholm.

Sung graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor's of Arts in Communication in 2007. He joins the Carthage community with his wife Tina, son Zachary, and daughter Abby.
