Wingate returns for his second year at Lewis as the offensive coordinator for the 2022-23 season.

In the 2021-2022 season as the Defensive Coordinator, Wingate led the Defense to a #4 finish in NCAA DII for man down defense at 79%. Under Wingate’s leadership, Lewis also accomplished the lowest amount of goals let up in a game in their program history, only allowing 2 goals against vs Quincy University (4/16/22). The 2021-22 season was the most successful in Lewis university’s history with a 9-6 record, the highest ranking in program history (#17 in NCAA DII USILA Coaches Poll), First ever win over a top #5 nationally ranked opponent (Seton hill 2/6/22) and the first GLVC Tournament berth in program history. Wingate helped mentor 8 All-conference selections, 1 USILA Scholar All-American as well as Lewis’s first ever NLL Draft pick, Drew Kask.

Wingate came to Lewis from Benedictine University where he spent the 2020-2021 season as the Defensive and Recruiting coordinator for the Eagles. Last season was the most successful in Benedictine's history as it finished with a 13-3 record, a NACC championship and an appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament which were all firsts in program history. While at Benedictine, Wingate mentored 10 All-Conference selections and two All-Region selections.

Prior to Benedictine, Wingate began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, University of Dubuque (UD). He served as the offensive and recruiting coordinator for the Spartans for three seasons, while earning his Master's degree.

Wingate is a 2017 graduate of the University of Dubuque, where he was a four-year starter as a midfielder. Wingate served as a two-time captain and graduated as all-time leader in faceoff wins and ground balls. Wingate finished his playing career second in career points for at the University of Dubuque.

He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and was a member of the Dean's List. Wingate, a native of Homewood, IL, earned his master's degree from Dubuque in communications in 2020.
