Peyton Coleman
Recruit Profile
A coachable and persistent student athlete who is competitive both on and off the field.
I started playing Lacrosse in the 6th grade. At the time, I was looking for a new experience in a sport with which I was not familiar. Once I picked up the lacrosse stick, I was hooked. Early on, I received recognition for my speed on the field and my ability to carry the ball coast to coast. I am still comfortable driving the ball downfield when the opportunity is present and I pride myself on my quick footwork and agility with man on man defense. I am fortunate to play offensively (midfield) for my high school team and defensively with my Grit Houston Lacrosse club team. I am extremely coachable and always seek to continuously develop my skills on the field and improve my conditioning off the field. I believe that hard work pays off and I am in a constant learner mindset to ensure our team makes the most of our skills and strategy on the field. Lacrosse in Texas has grown since I joined the sport in 6th grade and Im so happy to have been a part of that growth. More importantly, I am excited to see that more girls who look like me have also joined the sport since I started - including my younger sister who plays with me on my high school and club teams. I am proud to be a role model for her and other young women of color coming into the sport behind me. Outside of lacrosse, I am a member of the Strake Jesuit cheer team and the St. Agnes Academy National Junior Honor Society. I also enjoy volunteering at local food banks with my family and my school as well as participating in other service projects through church. Overall, I enjoy participating in various activities to feed my competitive spirit and give back to my community.
I look forward to adding diversity and a strong work ethic to a college team where I can continue to grow as a student athlete and leader and fully contribute to a team that feels like family.
