Seidel joins Akron after spending three seasons as the assistant women's lacrosse coach at Mount Union.

“I am so excited to have Katie by my side through the adventure of building a program at the University of Akron,” head coach Christy Mitchell said. Her lacrosse experience with playing, recruiting, teaching and coaching, as well as her positive personality, will be a huge benefit to the program. She is an Ohio native and has relationships all over the lacrosse community which is perfect for developing a division 1 team in this area. Katie fully understands the honor and excitement of being a Zip, and I know she will do amazing things here at Akron.”

Seidel played four years of college lacrosse at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Va. A four-year member of the athletic director’s honor roll and student-athlete advisory committee, she was also a two-time selection to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. Seidel graduated in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in business administration with minors in marketing and Spanish. She earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Mount Union in 2018.

The Chagrin Falls, Ohio, native, spent three seasons as a club coach for Ohio Premiere Lacrosse along with being a camp counselor for Blue Streaks Sports Camp.

She played soccer and lacrosse at Chagrin Falls High School, where she was an All-Ohio and All-District lacrosse player.
