Keith Detelj, who competed at Marist College from 2003-2007, finished his third season as the full-time head womens lacrosse coach at the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2021. He spent two seasons as the interim head coach of the lacrosse team before being promoted in the summer of 2018.

The 2021 campaign for SUNY New Paltz was a milestone season for the Hawks, as they finished with a winning record (5-3) for the first time in school history. The record was good for 3rd in the SUNYAC East division. The highlight of the year for SUNY New Paltz was a 13-12 victory over Oneonta on April 15, marking the first time in program history that the Hawks defeated the Red Dragons. This came off the heels of a COVID shortened 2-3 season and a 2019 season that was also a milestone year. Detelj led the Hawks to what was at that point their winningest record in program history at 8-8, going 4-5 in SUNYAC play and clinching the program's first ever postseason spot. SUNY New Paltz claimed conference victories over Plattsburgh State, SUNY Potsdam, Buffalo State and its first ever victory over Fredonia State. detelj

The Hawks finished 5-9 in each of Detelj's first two seasons, two more wins than in the 2016 campaign, and 1-7 in the SUNYAC in both years. Under his direction, Detelj saw three student-athletes collect All-SUNYAC honors and one student-athlete earn the SUNY Chancellor's Award.

During his career at Marist, Detelj, a midfielder, accumulated 73 goals and 28 assists across four seasons and was a three-time First Team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) honoree, as well as the 2004 Offensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year and the 2005 MAAC Tournament MVP.

Prior to his arrival at New Paltz, Detelj was the assistant offensive coach for the Nassau Community College Womens Lacrosse team from 2012-14 before taking over as head coach in the 2015 season. Under his direction, the team won the 2015 Region XV Championship, the 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) District D Championship and led the team to its second NJCAA Division III Final Four appearance. In addition, he has coached two NJCAA First Team All-Americans, seven All-Region honorees, one Region XV Player of the Year and was named 2015 District Coach of the Year.
