Ethan Cavanaugh
Recruit Profile
Hard working, physical, team player. Primarily defenseman but willing to go where I am needed, including LSM, defensive midfielder and man up offense. Strong lax IQ.
I started playing lacrosse at age 7. I began as a midfielder and then switched to defense at age 12. I am a physical player who is very coachable. I have played on several club teams in Northern California and have been able to be a member of a few national development teams and an invitational travel team. This gave me the opportunity to play in east coast tournaments as a west coast player.
In August of 2021, I started to volunteer for the Davis Lacrosse Club and worked with the U10 boys fall ball clinic. I enjoyed giving back to the lacrosse community where I first learned to play. I was recruited to be the assistant coach for the 14U boys spring season. The role of coach strengthened my skills in leadership, communication and organization.
In the summer of 2022, I applied and was chosen to take part in ICE (Intensive Club Experience) with Trilogy Lacrosse. In this program, players were chosen from all over the country to form a national lacrosse team. We lived together on the Haverford College campus and trained as a team for seven days and then competed in a two-day recruiting tournament. This time of being fully immersed in lacrosse gave me the opportunity to see what it might be like to play on a college team. I did not know a single player before the camp started and even though I was the only class of 2024 player on the class of 2023 team, I made friends and integrated myself into the team. This experience solidified my desire to play lacrosse at the college level.

Absolute team player. Ethan is a stud defender with a pole or a short stick. Ethan is extremely athletic, smart with the ball in his stick and can defend anywhere on the field. I have had Ethan play SS , LSM, and Close D and every single avenue he shines. He has the size of someone two years older and will only get bigger, faster, stronger over his high school career. Watch out or this kid - extremely coach-able and will do whatever asked for the team.

Ethan is a tough and tenacious defenseman who takes a lot of pride in winning his matchups. He is able to get the ball up the field on clears with good stick skills and field awareness. Most attackmen will not want to take the punishment Ethan dishes out for a full game.
