Sternkopf comes to Barton after spending the past three years (2018-20) as a Student Assistant Coach for the University of Mount Olive. In addition, Sternkopf coached for the Long Island Beach Bums Travel Club from 2016 to 2018.

Sternkopf also served as a Learning Accountability Program Mentor at UMO and was a four-year Academic All-Conference Carolinas honoree as a member of the Trojans' women's lacrosse team. In addition, Sternkopf was a member of FCA and President and Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) at Mount Olive.

Sternkopf is working towards her MBA at the University of Mount Olive and her earned her bachelor's degree in leadership development from UMO in May of 2020. Sternkopf is a native of West Islip, N.Y.
