Kyle Gardner begins his fifth season at the helm of the men’s lacrosse team in 2020.

The 2019 season was a historic one for Neumann, as Gardner led the team into the Atlantic East Conference with an outstanding season. The team went 9-8 on the year, including a 4-2 mark in conference play to clinch a home playoff game as the four-seed for the first time in 18 years. The team also won its first playoff game in 18 years with a 10-8 victory over Marywood, before falling in the conference semifinals to eventual national champion Cabrini. The Knights also qualified for the ECAC tournament, where they dropped a 12-6 result at the hands of Frostburg State. Jack Newswanger led Neumann on the all-conference first-team, while Colin Blake, Brett McLaughlin and Alex Rucci all earned second-team all-conference honors.

Gardner led a youthful group of Knights to a record of 4-11 during the 2018 season. Neumann closed the season with three wins in its final four games, falling one win short of the CSAC playoffs. Four Knights earned All-Conference honors during the season, led by Eric Conlon and Alex Rucci on the Second Team. Chris Augustine and Ryan Martin also received honorable mention.

During the 2017 season, the Knights went 6-9 overall. Chase Fraser received CSAC First Team honors and was the NCAA statistical champion in goals per game (4.71). Xavier Glanzel was named second team while Chris Augustine and Ryan Martin earned Honorable Mention. Seven Knights earned All-Academic status.

In his first season, the Knights went 1-12 overall. Two team members, Connor Betts and Xavier Glanzel, received CSAC Honorable Mention. Coach Gardner’s overall record is 7-21 in two seasons at Neumann.

Gardner is a 2010 graduate from Neumann University with a degree in English. He was a three-time Captain, three-time All-Conference player, a 2008 Men's Lacrosse Team MVP, and a 2009 Philadelphia Inquirer All-Area Academic Team honoree. During his three seasons, Gardner accumulated 44 goals, 28 assists and 42 ground ball s in 36 contests.

Originally from the Greater Philadelphia area, Gardner has strong ties to the local lacrosse scene. After Neumann, Gardner spent four years at the Blue Ridge School in Virginia, where he was the Varsity Head Lacrosse Coach and Lacrosse Program Director. At Blue Ridge, Gardner built a championship caliber program, with his teams winning three consecutive VIC championships, as well as making it to the VISAA Division 1 State Finals in 2012, and returning to the State quarter-finals in 2013.
