Hello,

My name is Liam Hassett. I am a junior at Huntington High School in Huntington, Long Island. I am looking for a college experience that challenges me academically and athletically.

I started playing lacrosse in kindergarten when my dad first signed me up for the PAL lacrosse program. I loved it immediately, and since then, I have given the sport my all. In 8th grade, I was recruited to play on the junior varsity lacrosse team at Huntington High School and was voted Offensive Player of the Year. Since 9th grade, I have been playing on the varsity lacrosse team at Huntington, and I am currently on the starting midfield line. In the summer and fall, I play club lacrosse for the Long Island Rebels, where I am also on the first midfield line. I also play receiver/safety on the Huntington varsity football team.

I am continually working on improving my lacrosse game. My coaches have described me as a smart player with a very high lacrosse IQ. I am aggressive and can comfortably score with both hands. I am always respectful of my coaches, teammates, referees, and opponents on the field.

Off the field, I am still very involved with the game of lacrosse. I am a volunteer coach with the Huntington PAL for my younger brothers team (he is ten-years-old), and I serve as a US Lacrosse certified referee. In the summer, I work as a lifeguard at our local beach, and I am a volunteer firefighter for the Halesite Fire Department. In the fall, I help organize the 5k Travis Manion run to honor the victims of 9/11, which includes members of my family.

In addition to working as hard as I can as an athlete, I take school seriously. As a student, I enjoy social studies and physics. My favorite class is Virtual Enterprise, where I am part of a team responsible for creating our own company from the ground up and competing with other schools. It is similar to the show Shark Tank, and Im proud to say that we were recently selected to take part in a national competition.

Im excited to learn more and to grow as an athlete and as a student.
