Lydia Connell
Recruit Profile
Determined, coachable, team player, athletic, high Lax IQ
I played field hockey, and I swam before I started with lacrosse. Field hockey was not offered in Florida, so I found lacrosse as a new sport. I started playing for a recreational team in 8th grade. I joined True Lacrosse when it was small, in the spring of 8th grade (2019). Our team was too small to compete so we joined with a team up in Tampa; Wesley Chapel Warriors. I started the season off by playing defense. Once spring season came to an end, summer started. I played defense again until I was put into attack. I made my first goal on the summer team, and I realized that I liked both positions. My coach had always wanted me to play as midfield, but I compared myself to seniors and juniors I saw even though I was only in 8th grade at the time. When spring came around in 9th grade (2020), I tried out for midfield. I made the JV Lakewood Ranch team. Our season was cut short with Covid-19. I had injured myself a week before the sports had been called off due to corona. My injury took 8 weeks to heal (I had an ulvasion fracture in my right hip).I played midfield for summer season along with fall season. I played varsity my sophomore year at Lakewood Ranch High School. I stayed with True on their Black team for the summer (2021) and than I switched to Maniax lacrosse for Fall 2021. I was on the Lax Maniax HS Select Team for the fall, taking draw and playing midfield.
