Lydia Murray
Recruit Profile
Fast and quick. Team player always looking to improve. Strong defensive player who can play both one on one and team defense.
Sports have always been a very important part of my life. I have been playing lacrosse since fourth grade. I have been playing soccer even longer. This year I stopped playing soccer since it was too time-consuming to play two Club and High School sports simultaneously. Now I can focus on lacrosse and other academic and extracurricular activities.
In both soccer and lacrosse, I played the same position; defense. While the two sports are not the same they have many similarities. Both require speed, quickness, and strength. I was able to use what I learned playing team defense in soccer in lacrosse.
I also helped to coach a youth girl's lacrosse team. I was able to create bonds with the girls and they felt comfortable coming to me when they needed help.
This past season I played lacrosse on the JV team at Westfield High School (ranked in top 15 in State). While I mainly play defense, I have also played Midfield. I understand the game from both sides of the field.
I am currently taking an AP spanish class. I am in Model UN and also in the Spanish Club. I plan to become a member of the Spanish Honor Society. Every Saturday I volunteer to help disabled kids play soccer - my favorite time of the week.
