Maeve O'Brien

2022 | NY: Honeoye Falls

Recruit Profile
Tenacious defender who is a proven winner with a high "Lax IQ"; multi-sport athlete, 4.0 GPA with 7-8 AP classes expected by graduation; competitive, coachable, and valued teammate.

I am the oldest of three lacrosse-playing sisters, and we each began in 1st Grade. I began playing club in 3rd grade and joined Monster Elite Lacrosse two years later. I am a 6-year starting defender on the highly-regarded Monster 2022 Purple team; as a part of an extremely talented defense, I'm disciplined, talkative, and capable of bringing the ball all the way up the field to help set up the offense. I'm effective on the draw circle, skilled with both hands, and can play both a zone defense and man-to-man. The Monster 2022 Purple team has won many tournaments over the last five years, including Lax For The Cure ('18), MidAtlantic Summer ('18), Summit Classic ('18), first place in the Nike G8 ('19), and first place (4-0) in an extremely competitive division at President's Cup ('19). I am also a 2020 Nike Elite 120 participant.

Scholastically, I was called up to Honeoye Falls-Lima Varsity in 8th Grade. That year, (2018), we were Class C State Finalists. In 2019, I started every game as a Freshman defender, led the team in ground balls and was 2nd in caused turnovers. We lost in the Class C State Semifinals. I also scored 8 goals while playing very little in the offensive end of the field. It was expected that I'd start at midfield this past year (2020), while sharing in running the offense and taking draws.

In the classroom, I have a 4.0 GPA, took two AP classes this year, and expect to finish high school with 7-8 AP classes. My interests include biology and chemistry, and I plan on pursuing a Pre-Med track in college. I've been on the High Honor Roll since 6th Grade, and look forward to being able to take the SAT on 8/29/20, and the ACT as soon as possible. My volunteer experience includes coaching and officiating in our town's youth lacrosse program, as well as time working in the kitchen at a local food pantry, totaling 40+ hours of community service. Lastly, I also play soccer, and will compete for starting Varsity GK this year. In a game last season against the top team in the Section, I had 21 saves.
