Matt Cutia was been named the new full-time assistant coach for the Cortland men’s lacrosse program for the 2020 season.

Prior to Cortland, Cutia was the head coach of the Cold Brook Lacrosse Club from 2008-18 and the head lacrosse coach of the college club team at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) from 2004-08.

Cutia, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in 1999 and a master’s degree from UNLV in 2006, was a four-year member of the Orange lacrosse team. A two-time All-American and senior captain with more than 100 career goals, Cutia participated in four NCAA Div. I “final fours” during his Syracuse career. Following his senior year, he was selected to compete in the North/South Senior All-Star game.

Cutia also served as an admissions advisor and assistant director of admissions at SUNY Cortland from 2008-18, which followed his role as academic advisor at UNLV from 2006-08. A native of Homer, N.Y., Cutia competed in lacrosse, basketball and football at Homer High School, earning All-America honors in lacrosse as a senior.
