I’ll never forget the first time I picked up a lacrosse stick. I was in 3rd grade, and ever since I picked up my brother’s stick that was lying in the backyard, I was hooked. Lacrosse quickly became more than just a sport to me in Middle School. Now I’m in my Junior year of High School and the love I have for the game has only grown. I’m a 6’5 215lbs midfielder/attack that can play both offense and defense. I’ve been on Varsity since my Freshman year and lead the team in scoring my Sophmore year. I was also named a Captain at the end of my Sophomore season. I love using my size to my advantage, however, I’m not a one dimensional player. I also use my speed and footwork to draw slides and move the ball fast. In conclusion, my goal is to continue my lacrosse career past High School and into college. I am a student of the game that loves bringing intensity to every field I’m on, whether it be a game or a Monday practice. To quote my High School Lacrosse Coach, Alex Gossard, “Matthew is the type of kid that would run through a brick wall if I asked him to without a question.” I pride myself in working harder than everyone and soaking up every bit of knowledge that my coach’s share to become the best player I can be.
