Mia Andel
Recruit Profile
Extremely coachable player always looking to improve. Strong lax IQ and confidence against teams top attackers. Always willing to challenge herself. Determined multi-sport athlete and honors student.
I first started playing lacrosse when I was 5 years old on the sidelines of my brother's games. When I was in the third grade I began playing PAL for Manhasset and joined the Liberty Lacrosse Club in fifth grade. Currently, I still play for Liberty and am on the Manhasset High School JV team as a freshman. I pride myself in my one-on-one defense and ability to shut down strong attackers. I have quick footwork and am able to get my stick in the way of passing lanes to slow down critical plays. I am also comfortable in both hands and can contribute to the offense when necessary. Along with lacrosse, I enjoy playing Field Hockey and was a midfield starter for the JV team. Academically, I excel in all areas, but am most successful in science where I am a part of the EScAPES program. This entails taking honors Earth Science and AP Environmental Science in the same year. While doing so I am also enrolled in Honors English, Pre-AP Social Studies, and 10th grade honors Geometry, with a 4.27 GPA. Another notable area of achievement is in English where I was a 2020 finalist for the LILAC writing contest. In addition, I was invited to attend the 2022 Conference for Future Young Medical Leaders as a reflection of my achievements in science. I volunteer for the PAL program to pave the way for the future of Manhasset lacrosse and I spend time working at the local soup kitchen. I am also a representative for the student council where I organize fundraisers, dances, and class bonding opportunities.
