Mia LaBarca
Recruit Profile
Passionate and committed three sport Varsity athlete - team oriented - very coachable - athletic, aggressive, explosive, fast.
Having been a competitive USAG gymnast for five years, I know what being passionate, committed and determined about athletics truly means. I attribute much of my work ethic and commitment to personal excellence to my early years as an elite athlete as well as the motivation to be self-disciplined, instilled in me by my father, a former DI football player at Penn State University. While I loved gymnastics and excelled at the sport, I became interested in lacrosse watching my older sister play. I began playing lacrosse competitively at eleven years old with T3 Shore. My travel team experience helped me earn a starting position as a midfielder on my high school team as a freshman as well as earning the highly coveted award of Rookie of the Year. I have become a leader on my high school team and am eager to assist my teammates on and off the field. While lacrosse is my passion, I am also a two year Varsity starter on the field hockey team and track team. I was the second leading scorer this season and was nominated for Player of the Week by the Asbury Park Press. I earned the school record for most goals scored in field hockey in eighth grade, and I also led the Ocean County All-Star team to a 2-0 win with 2 goals. In track I earned the school record for the 100, also in eighth grade. I continue to excel as a sprinter on my high school Varsity team in the 200 and relays. Both sports contribute to my lacrosse game.
Academics are my first and foremost priority. I am currently enrolled in three honors classes and two advanced honors classes. While the course load is demanding, I am able to balance both athletics and academics. My parents, both educators, have instilled a strong sense of work ethic in my siblings and me.
I am also a member of TEAM and volunteer at many community and school sponsored events. I enjoy working with children with special needs and assisting them in organized sports. I value my time volunteering and helping others and am also active in donating and fundraising for the Associated Humane Society.
