Michael Cummings is entering his 16th season as the head coach of the men's lacrosse team at SCAD.

Cummings has been at the helm since the program's inception in 2004.

SCAD earned it’s first-ever SELC Tournament berth in the program's first year as a varsity sport in 2005-06. Cummings was named the Southeast Lacrosse Conference (SELC), Division II Coach of the Year as he led the Bees to a 7-8 record.

The Bees have come a long way since Cummings came to SCAD. They earned six consecutive appearance to the Southeastern Lacrosse Conference Tournament by going 15-5 in 2010-11 and were the 2011 SELC, Division II Champions.

Cummings took the men's team to the SELC Southeastern Division Title for the second year in a row in 2013-14 and were participants in their fifth straight trip to the MCLA National Championships.

The Bees made their first NAIA National Invitational Tournament appearance in 2018 after being named the 2018 Independent Conference Champions.

Cummings earned his bachelor's degree in studio art/secondary education certification in 1998 from McDaniel College (previously Western Maryland College). While there, Cummings played basketball for three seasons for the Green Terror. He later earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in illustration from SCAD in 2001. Cummings was an adjunct professor for four years at SCAD, teaching both foundation studies and illustration courses, prior to becoming the full-time coach in January 2005.

Cummings and his wife, Julie, live in Savannah, with their son Carter and daughter Isabelle.
